tsatassaya Tracey White, B.A., M.A., is a member of The Fox Queen, a progressive theatre collective which works towards an innovative approach to community reconciliation, this work has reached six communities across Vancouver Island and an upcoming project in Prince George, BC. She is a curator, producer, event planner, and community mobilizer from the Snuneymuxw and Hupacasath Nations. A dedicated advocate for Indigenous arts and culture, tsatassaya has directed, produced, and performed in theatre works presented in both English and her Indigenous language, hul’q’umi’num’. She is the founder and co-producer of the annual Sumshathut Festival, celebrating the Winter Solstice, and qwuy’ulush ‘utl Swy-a-lana, an Indigenous dance festival—two cornerstone events that have enriched Nanaimo’s cultural landscape and amplified Indigenous voices through vibrant, inclusive community gatherings. In April 2025, tsatassaya received the City of Nanaimo’s Honour in Culture Award for her outstanding contributions. She also served as lead consultant for Breaking Bannock, a year-long community reconciliation program on Gabriola Island in 2024. Her work with Dance West Network includes curating Indigenous Dance Talks in 2021 and 2024 in collaboration with prominent Indigenous dance leaders across British Columbia.
Tamara is co-Artistic Lead and co-Producer of The Fox Queen, and was a founding member and co-Artistic Director of Boca del Lupo Theatre. Tamara’s continued commitment to decolonizing her life and artistic projects has upended her ingrained European model for theatre creation; she is actively Indigenizing her theatre practices through ongoing learning in Cultural Leadership (inaugural cohort: Reflecting Forward with Wise Practices, BANFF Arts Centre), and anti-racist training. Tamara is an award-winning director, actor, and educator. With over 40 professional directing credits, these include I Want To Be An Astronaut (Port Theatre/Pacific Coast Stage); Percolate (PCSC); The Out Vigil (Theatre Newfoundland Labrador); Red Riding Hood (Project X); The Wolves; Love/Sick (Douglas College); The Double Axe Murders (Gateway/ Evergreen); Julius Caesar (Greater Victoria Shakespeare Festival); Into the Woods (VIU); Dead Drone (upintheair); The Sea; A Doll’s House (Slamming Door); La Bohème (Opera Nanaimo); A Hundred Words for Snow; The Vertical Hour (United Players); Goodnight Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet (Blue Bridge); James and the Giant Peach (Chemainus Theatre Festival); FourPlay (Studio 58); Munsch Alley (Carousel). For Theatre BC she has adjudicated and led directing workshops for North and South Island, and North Shore Zones. She will lead the Directors Lab Workshop at Mainstage 2026 in Vernon. Coming up in 2026: producing the 6th edition of Messages on Doors, and directing The Ladies Foursome (Chemainus). Tamara is known for creating inclusive, fun, and professional opportunities for equity-deserving artists, and is the proud recipient of the 2021 John Moffat and Larry Lillo Award.
Dave holds BFA in Theatre Performance from University of Victoria, is a founding member of The Fox Queen and Upintheair Theatre. He is a lead rEvolver Theatre Festival Curator, an actor, director, performance deviser, and playwright. Dave holds a non-hierarchical world view, values inclusion, loves nature, and reveres Indigenous culture, ceremony, and storytelling. Dave is committed to Indigenous reconciliation, divesting and sharing of power, countercolonioalism, sparking the creation of new works of art, supporting and presenting artists at transitional points of their careers, and training the next generation of theatre makers on Turtle Island. His theatre projects have challenged traditional boundaries by generating performance for non-theatre venues, site installations and pop-ups at all-night rave dance parties. Dave is also co-owner of Brandywine Bartending School and is a highly respected competitive mixologist, corporate trainer and team builder.
