Core Artist: Sean Fenzl

Biography

Sean Fenzl is a photographer whose 20 year commercial career has put his eyes, lens, and thoughtful curiosity on many Indigenous communities across BC and Canada. Through the lens of their camera, they’ve often documented what’s known as “cultural tourism” - but in this engaging journey, what’s truly been gathered are moments of connection, celebration and survival.

With a deepened perspective from years of working and living more and more closely with his local community and friends in Snuneymuxw, Sean is exploring the themes of truth, love and reconciliation in their personal creative practice. Messages on Doors offers this opportunity to reflect, to create, and contribute to an evolving dialogue.

Sean’s work seeks to celebrate the power of listening, the strength of collaboration, and the joy of creating together, respectfully, on traditional and ancestral lands.
