Gilakas'la (welcome)

I was born in Alert Bay in 1967 and moved to the village of Fort Rupert BC in 1985. In 1989 at a memorial pot hatch for my brother, my mother's family placed me in the family's chief position at the big house in Alert, Bay where I received the name "Mus-cum-tsi which symbolizes the four clans of the KwaKwakaWak'w nation.

It all begins with an idea.Christy is a devotee of the creative spark, a Mom, a musician, a DJ, and a multi-passionate artist who creates with heartfelt sound, life-fueling beats, and mixed-media experimentation. Sean Fenzl is a photographer whose 20 year commercial career has put his eyes, lens, and thoughtful curiosity on many Indigenous communities across BC and Canada. Through the lens of their camera, they’ve often documented what’s known as “cultural tourism” - but in this engaging journey, what’s truly been gathered are moments of connection, celebration and survival.
